Why adopt from SPCA?
Every year, thousands of animals of all shapes, sizes and ages come into our SPCA centres nationwide. All of them have an individual story to tell and all of them deserve a second chance at life.
Rescue an animal in need
Many are simply lost pets or unwanted litters of puppies or kittens. Others have been abandoned or have suffered from cruelty or neglect. Some are here because their owners simply could no longer care for them. You can rescue an animal in need by giving them a loving home for life. And your adoption fee also helps us rescue other animals in need.
Find the right pet for you
Our expert animal staff will match you to the right pet for your lifestyle. We want every animal to find the right home, and every home to find the right animal for them. So we will talk with you to understand your lifestyle and needs. Once we know what you’re looking for in a pet, we will help you to select the right pet for you. If you’ve got the time and the love, we’ve got a pet to suit your family.
Expert advice and assistance
We will provide you with advice on caring for your new pet and settling them into your home. After adoption, we will be happy to help with advice or answer any concerns you may have.
Great value for money
When you adopt from SPCA, your new pet is all ready to go. We ensure all animals are healthy and prepared for their new home prior to adoption. Our adoption fees are great value for money as our animals are:
- Vet checked and healthy
- Temperament checked
- Desexed
- Vaccinated
- Wormed and deflead
- Microchipped
If you tally all of the above up, you are getting a lot more than you pay for.
You can find more information on this on each individual profile, as treatments differ by which type of animal you adopt.
Some extra bonuses for cat and dog adopters
Purina food vouchers
SPCA cats and dogs are fed Purina ONE while in care, unless they require a specialist diet. Over 80,000kg of pet food is donated by Purina each year to SPCA, to ensure the animals in our care are kept happy and healthy.
When you adopt from SPCA, your animal goes home with a set of Purina food discount vouchers, to set them up with nutritious food and treats for the first little while. Find out more about the Purina One range
