Not all wounds are physical
When Alaska arrived at SPCA, she was a nervous wreck.
If it wasn’t for people like you, this poor 2-year-old whippet would still be trapped in an unending world of fear.
When Alaska was surrendered into our care, it was painfully obvious that she was suffering from severe anxiety.
Whimpering. Shaking. Tail tucked in tightly between her legs.
In fact, Alaska was so petrified that she would go stiff with fright at the sound of a kind word.
Inspector Sam said,
“Alaska seemed nervous of the outside world. She hadn’t been exposed to much and she was really timid and unsure.
“I was scared Alaska would break down in the Centre. It was such a strange, new environment for her. She needed a lot of gentle, patient care to build her confidence.”
This is where your support can make such a big difference to an animal like Alaska.
You see, there’s no ‘quick fix’ for severe anxiety. It takes a lot of time, patience and a gentle outpouring of sheer, unconditional love…
SPCA is only able to rehabilitate desperate animals like Alaska - because of generous people like you.
Inspector Sam told us,
“Alaska needed time and patience. Having the resources to go slow for animals who need it means so much.”
It took months of care and support – but now Alaska is a completely different dog.
She’s nosy, adventurous, and loves getting cuddles from every passerby.
“She bounds into the reception building - visits all the other offices, demanding cuddles from everyone on the way to our office.
“She’s cheeky and confident, and the cuddliest, sweetest goofball.”
None of this would’ve been possible, if it wasn’t for caring animal lovers like you.
Please, will you give today to help another nervous, desperate animal at SPCA overcome their fears, and discover the joy of being loved?
