Cupcake Day raises dough for the animals of SPCA
Kiwi bakers and taste-testers around the country have raised vital funds for the animals on Cupcake Day.
SPCA’s sweetest fundraiser, Cupcake Day, was held on 18 September, and has so far raised $50,263 for the animals.
With fundraising continuing until the end of the month, this amount will continue to rise.
SPCA Events Manager Elinor Birch has commented on the amazing efforts and contributions seen around New Zealand.
“It’s been incredible to see so many individuals, workplaces, schools and communities getting behind SPCA through Cupcake Day,” Ms Birch said.
“These funds are so needed, and will go a long way in helping the thousands of animals that come into our care every year. We’re very grateful for this support.”
Though fundraising continues until the end of September, there were winners in different categories from the big day – with prizes sponsored by Purina, Bluebell’s Cakery, KitchenAid, Milly’s, Sweet Kiwi Kitchen and FreshAs.
Top School/ELC Fundraiser: Mangorei School
Top Company/Workplace: 2Degrees
Top Team Fundraiser: Paw-some Bakers
Individual fundraisers who managed to raise $250 or more went into the draw to win a KitchenAid stand mixer – a prize that was taken out by Katyanne Hall.
We’d like to thank everyone that took the time to bake a difference for the animals, and to all those who showed their support through purchasing a cupcake on the day.
