SPCA to take part in Giving Tuesday on 3 December
Giving Tuesday has been making waves overseas, and now SPCA will be bringing the power of generosity and community action to New Zealand’s vulnerable animals.
For the first time ever, SPCA will be taking part in Giving Tuesday on 3 December.
Giving Tuesday is a global movement which promotes the positive impacts of fundraising, and encourages people to celebrate giving.
Giving Tuesday has grown and achieved huge momentum overseas, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Now, SPCA is aiming to bring the power of generosity to the animals in our care here in New Zealand.
“If you’re looking to focus your giving where it goes directly to improve animal welfare, please consider giving to SPCA,” CEO Todd Westwood says.
Participants can take part by either creating a fundraiser of their choice, and fundraising all the way up until and including Tuesday 3 December – or by simply making a donation on the day.
Whether you want to host a bake sale, sell handmade crafts, run a marathon, or have a garage sale, every dollar raised will go towards helping the animals in the care of SPCA. Feel free to get creative!
To get started, head to SPCA’s Fundraising Hub and create a fundraising profile. Simply add information about your fundraiser, then share the profile with friends, family and colleagues, who can begin to make donations.
Some supporters may not be in a position to fundraise or make a cash donation on Giving Tuesday, in which case there are other ways to get involved.
“Our Centres are always in need of extra helping hands,” Mr Westwood says. “Signing up to volunteer or foster animals short-term is another great way to help and give back this Giving Tuesday.”
All funds raised from Giving Tuesday will help SPCA in continuing to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome thousands of animals every year.
