Animal Care Assistant – Cats
Dunedin Centre
We are looking for volunteers to help with the daily work of caring for our cats and kittens. This is quite strenuous work and often involves a lot of cleaning.
Duties
- Cleaning animal areas, litter trays and bowls
- Feeding animals per feeding directions
- Refiling litter trays
- Identifying animals displaying signs of illness
- Follow Health and Safety requirements
Available times

Morning shifts: Monday – Sunday 9am – 12pm

Afternoon shifts weekdays: Monday, Wednesday & Friday 2.30pm – 4.30pm

Afternoon shifts weekends: Saturday & Sunday 2pm – 4.30pm
Qualifications and Education Requirements
No formal qualification required but you will need to be at least 17 years of age. Previous animal experience desirable.
Preferred skills
Successful candidate must be able to follow instructions and all Health and Safety requirements. They should be enthusiastic, hardworking, be able to work well in a team and have a genuine love of animals. We need volunteers that are prepared to commit to the minimum requirement of one shift per week for 6 months, and can understand written and spoken English.

Please note: Our centres and op shops have minimum age requirements to volunteer. For op shops the minimum age is 15 years. For volunteering at a centre, please enquire with them directly if you are under 16 years of age. You may need to provide an up-to-date Ministry of Justice check prior to starting. Please be aware that during the application process we will ask about any medical conditions (physical or mental) we need to be aware of to ensure your safety while volunteering for us.
