Dunedin Centre
Making a difference in Dunedin
Volunteer with usThe SPCA Centre in Dunedin is the oldest SPCA in New Zealand, established in 1872. Set on 42 acres of land in the hills of North Dunedin, our purpose-built centre has been designed to provide optimal care for animals. This includes cat facilities, with a hospital and surgery.
The new administration building includes an education room fitted out with modern technology to provide for electronic presentations and educational talks. We regularly have school and other community groups visit the centre.
Our Dunedin centre is well supported by volunteers who we are indebted to for their commitment and service. The volunteers and our animal attendant team care for around 2,000 animals each year that come through our centre.
We are very fortunate to have a committed and active Supporters Group who work tremendously hard to raise funds for the services we provide, such as the annual fundraising ball, a popular event on the Duendin events calendar. Our fundraising is also supported by a very well-run and popular op shop based in North Dunedin.
