Making a difference in Southland

Volunteer with us

SPCA's Invercargill Centre has large grounds and a purpose-built facility, which was built in 2014 and designed to provide optimal care for animals.

Our team of highly qualified vet nurses and animal attendants are here to ensure all animals receive the best of care, even without having a veterinarian on-site. We are very fortunate to be well supported by a team of around 70 volunteers, who we are most thankful for their commitment and service. Together, these volunteers and our animal attendants care for around 1,000 animals each year.

Our two Op Shops are conveniently located in the heart of town on Tay Street and Spey Street, and in the Glengarry Shopping Centre to accommodate customers from the outskirts of Invercargill. Stop in for a visit to meet our lovely team of staff and volunteers!

Thank you for looking to desex your pet.

Making desexing accessible to everyone is important to us. Scientific research has proven that a desexed animal lives a happier and healthier life. They are less likely to get into fights, can be more affectionate and friendly, and have a reduced risk of health issues such as cancer. We believe desexing and microchipping is one of the key ways to improve animal welfare.

We run Snip ‘n’ Chip campaigns for cats across the country at different times of the year. To check if vouchers are available in your area visit https://book.spcadesexing.nz/

For more information on desexing, please visit www.spcadesexing.nz or email snipnchip@spca.nz

Alternatively, please contact your local SPCA Centre for local assistance and advice.
