Animal Attendant Katie and fosterer Jade told us how they managed to trap the weak and terrified kitten, and get him to safety before a storm rolled in.

Katie said,

“Just as we walked back to the car with the kitten safely in the cage, it started to pour with rain and the wind really started to rise. It was pretty scary.

“We were relieved, but at the same time sad to think how many others were still out there.”

Fitzgibbons is one of the lucky ones, coming into our care at SPCA. But he didn’t have an easy journey.

The vet found that the tops of his tiny ears were shrivelled and hard, with no blood flow. The dead tissue needed to be removed.

Critical surgeries like these wouldn’t happen without donations from kind-hearted animal lovers like you.

Centre Manager Rebecca said,

“Money donated enables us to give animals like Fitzy the surgery they need to be pain-free.

“His stitches look dramatic, but when they come out and his fur grows back, he’ll be just as beautiful as before!”

Without the surgery, this vulnerable kitten would have suffered in pain.

Weeks on from his rescue, Fitzgibbons is like an entirely different cat - affectionate, playful and confident.

“He’s certainly stolen our hearts.”
