Casualty Wildlife
SPCA believes humans have a duty of care to assist wild animals found in pain or distress as a direct consequence of a human activity or interference, or because of a natural disaster.
Wild animals found to be sick, injured, or orphaned must be promptly assessed by an experienced person, preferably a veterinarian, with knowledge and experience in the species. Where a wild animal is experiencing pain or distress which cannot be relieved or treated, it must be promptly euthanased.
