Conservation
SPCA values New Zealand’s unique ecosystems and the welfare of all animals that call these places home. We advocate that animal welfare is critical to ensuring conservation goals and that all conservation activities include an animal welfare assessment.
SPCA advocates that conservation activities be carried out when they are supported with clear objectives, monitored, and evaluated, and continuously adapted to ensure goals are met. All conservation activities must be carried out to ensure that the welfare of all animals impacted is considered and minimised.
SPCA supports the establishment and maintenance of national parks and conservation zones in areas of ecological significance to preserve genetic diversity, promote biodiversity, and protect animals from human impacts.
