Making a difference in Ashburton

Volunteer with us

SPCA's Ashburton Centre opened the doors at our new location on Seafield Road in December 2020. The centre primarily houses felines, with other animals being transferred to the Christchurch centre.

Currently we have one full time staff member - our Team Leader, Foster and Volunteer Coordinator, as well as a part time Senior Animal Attendant, and part time Animal Attendant, who look after all our animals.

Our centre covers from the Rakaia River to the Rangitata, with Inspectorate cover coming from Christchurch.

Thank you for looking to desex your pet.

Making desexing accessible to everyone is important to us. Scientific research has proven that a desexed animal lives a happier and healthier life. They are less likely to get into fights, can be more affectionate and friendly, and have a reduced risk of health issues such as cancer. We believe desexing and microchipping is one of the key ways to improve animal welfare.

We run Snip ‘n’ Chip campaigns for cats across the country at different times of the year. To check if vouchers are available in your area visit https://book.spcadesexing.nz/

For more information on desexing, please visit www.spcadesexing.nz or email snipnchip@spca.nz

Alternatively, please contact your local SPCA Centre for local assistance and advice.
