Volunteer with usWelcome to Whanganui SPCA Centre
Discover a haven of compassion and care at the Whanganui SPCA, where every pawprint tells a unique story of hope and resilience. Serving a sprawling region that includes Whanganui City, Bulls, Marton, Hunterville, and the scenic Ruapehu region, our dedicated team of Animal Attendants, Animal Welfare Inspectors and Volunteers are committed to ensuring the well-being of animals in need.
Purpose-Built: Step into our purpose-built facilities that serve as a temporary refuge for those who have faced hardship. Our social cat rooms, complete with outdoor enclosures, provide a comfortable space for our feline friends. These rooms echo with the purrs of cats who have found solace in our care and are now eagerly awaiting the warmth of their forever homes.
Canine Companionship: Embrace the joy of companionship with our delightful canines, each with a unique tale to tell. With puppies and adult dogs looking for their fresh start, our adoption Centre is a hub of wagging tails and unconditional love. Explore the possibilities of bringing a new furry family member into your life.
Beyond Cats and Dogs: At Whanganui SPCA, our love for animals extends beyond the conventional. Throughout the year a variety of other animals seeking a second chance at happiness come through our doors.
Join Us in Making a Difference: As advocates for animal welfare, we invite you to join us in making a lasting impact. Whether through adoption, volunteering, or supporting our initiatives, your involvement strengthens our mission to create a world where every animal is treated with kindness and compassion.
Explore the stories, share the love, and embark on a journey of animal advocacy with our Whanganui Centre. Together, let's build a future where every paw finds its path to a loving home.

Thank you for looking to desex your pet.
Making desexing accessible to everyone is important to us. Scientific research has proven that a desexed animal lives a happier and healthier life. They are less likely to get into fights, can be more affectionate and friendly, and have a reduced risk of health issues such as cancer. We believe desexing and microchipping is one of the key ways to improve animal welfare.
We run Snip ‘n’ Chip campaigns for cats across the country at different times of the year. To check if vouchers are available in your area visit https://book.spcadesexing.nz/
For more information on desexing, please visit www.spcadesexing.nz or email snipnchip@spca.nz
Alternatively, please contact your local SPCA Centre for local assistance and advice.
