EUGY by Dodoland continues support for SPCA

EUGY create sustainable cardboard craft toys, and in 2024 launched their ‘Hope’ model based on a real SPCA dog.

Pumba was the name of the pup, who was originally found abandoned with her littermates. Despite her difficult start to life, she was admired by the team for her friendly and playful personality, and after many months of waiting, Pumba was at last adopted into a loving forever home.

EUGY created the Hope model, inspired by her story – 10% of profits from the sale of this model in New Zealand, Australia, and online, is donated to SPCA.

“Not only have EUGY donated $6,000 and counting to SPCA from the sale of Hope, they have also very kindly supplied us with many EUGY toys for us to use in our Education competitions for young learners,” says Caroline Dowsett, Education Engagement Officer for SPCA.

Our SPCA Education Programme run age-appropriate, meaningful competitions within our communities for schools, children and their whānau. This is a great way to enhance awareness of key animal welfare topics, and to increase learning and participation in the SPCA Education Programme.

At its core, SPCA is about the prevention of cruelty – so the role of our Education Programme is key in teaching younger generations how to be the best animal guardians possible.

“Our programme aims to engage with, and educate Kiwi kids on important animal welfare topics,” says Ms Dowsett. “We do this through various avenues, including our storybooks which have been provided free to schools around the country, our online Kids’ Portal and Teachers’ Portal, and our Kind Matters newsletter for kids.
